Chancin Irish Dancin a Huge Success
LARCC Fundraising night Friday 1st April Greville Arms Hotel was a night to remember
LARCC’s fundraiser Chancin Irish Dancin was a hugely successful night and a wonderful fundraiser for the charity. The guest chancers really and truly put their best foot forward to raise money for essential cancer care services in Westmeath. The 8 well known local people very generously agreed to give up their time to train, with a professional dancer, and practiced for weeks in order to be ready for the big night.
A huge thank you to the Chancers Eugene Bourke of Mullingar Autos, June Carley popular local presenter on Midlands 103, popular local man Aidan Muggs Mulligan of the Spiced Bean Café, Mary St., Mullingar, Eilis Ryan, editor of the Westmeath Examiner, Cyrian Connaughton popular publican from Rathowen, Westmeath Scór Royalty Hugo Slevin of the St. Joseph’s Club Streamstown and worthy winner on the night TY teacher Niamh Sheridan representing St. Josephs SC in Rochfortbridge. Aprils Fools night proved too soon for Westmeath Hurler John Shaw of Raharney to recover sufficiently from a hurling injury which unfortunately meant he could not dance on the night.
John’s mentor Janette McLellan danced instead with show choreographer Kevin Lyster to whom special mention and thanks must go (Kevin Lyster School of Irish Dancing, Rochfortbridge, Co. Westmeath) . His flair and passion for dancing really showed through in what was a spectacular night of Irish dancing. Also much thanks to his very talented dancing professionals and mentors who all very generously gave up their time to train our chancers and get them ready for the event, so to Gemma, Niamh, Chloe, Helen, Angela and Elaine huge congratulations on your routines, your dancing and your energy.
Local funny man Paul Doolin was our guest MC and was a huge hit with the audience as he helped the chancers and their mentors through the night. Special thanks also to the members of our guest judging panel made up of well known people from the dancing and entertainment world, including Colm O’Se ex-Riverdance and world champion dancer, Sinead Mulvey who with Black Daisy represented Ireland in the 2009 Eurovision song contest, 2009 Rose of Tralee Charmaine Kenny and champion Irish Dancer Mark McMahon.
Topping the night off was the hugely energetic and lively band from Dublin Lad Lane who went down a storm and brought the house down with their unique brand of traditional music – thanks Lads – ye made the night for us all.
Chancin Irish Dancin was a huge success and LARCC thanks everyone who was involved to make it such a brilliant night. Here’s to CID 2012!!!
