German Biscuits, Jewellery & Jam – Local Family Fundraises for LARCC
On a chilly afternoon in late November, Jessica Brady, her husband and daughters Grace and Orla raised over €850 for the Centre.
A breast cancer survivor, Jessica , in her own words wanted to give something back to the Centre in recognition of the superb professional and caring staff there. In particular, she wanted to thank Ger, her Therapist for her kindness.
Having had a German baker as a grandfather and a confectioner as a grandmother, Jessica set out to create a unique “Kaffee und Kuchen” (coffee and cakes) afternoon with a Christmas theme.
Her daughter Grace sold her handmade jewellery (www.etsy.com:bluekoru) as well as homemade jam with proceeds going to LARCC while husband Gerry and youngest daughter Orla welcomed the more than 50 friends and family. “This time last year I couldn’t have imagined ever again having enough energy to bake so many biscuits and cakes, let alone organise an event of this size. It feels good to be well again and to be able to get such joy from the baking and from welcoming guests to our home”, she said.
The Brady family would especially like to thank Dympna Minaguchi and Graínne Garry for their hard work serving the coffee and cakes and also their many friends who came from Dublin and further afield.
A big thank you to the Brady Family and to all who attended their unique event. €850 was raised in two hours!
